Table Mountain dominates Cape Town in so many ways. It affects the weather, it channels the winds through the city and it has its own unique flora and fauna which can be found nowhere else in the world.

Getting up the mountain is very easy. There is a state-of-the-art rotating cable car as well as numerous walks ranging from one to six hours, depending on the route taken.

One of these routes up the mountain starts from Kirstenbosch gardens, which beautifully displays the full range of Cape flora set against the back of the mountain.

Cape Town has a winter rainfall climate which makes it very popular with sun lovers in the summer months.

There are beaches for all tastes, from the ultra-trendy Clifton beaches, to the water sport and family beach of Bloubergstrand.

The waters are always clean and are regularly tested by the authorities for any traces of impurities.

The entire Southern Cape area is picturesque and driving in the country is always popular.

The day trip to Cape Point via Chapman's is the most well known. Along the way you should take time out to see the penguin colony at The Boulders and sample some fresh seafood at Hout Bay.

At the very end of the trip there is the harsh environment of Cape Point where two mighty oceans meet.

Another very popular day trip is to visit the Cape vineyards which can be found in most parts of the peninsula.

Of these, the Stellenbosch Winelands are probably the most scenic and well established.

The V&A Waterfront has developed over the last five years into one of South Africa's top 5 tourist attractions.

It is one of those unique locations in the world where top quality facilities have been planted in amongst a full working harbour.
